Chelsea
Ramires joined Chinese club Jiangsu Suning for £25 million in January, but according to French sports news outlet L’Equipe (as reported by The Daily Express), Matuidi could be open to a Premier League move.
The Blues undoubtedly need to bolster their midfield if they want to contend for the Premier League crown again next season.
The 28-year-old Frenchman could be the ideal addition for the Blues, as he is vastly experienced at a high level and would add defensive skills to the Stamford Bridge team.
However, L’Equipe notes it may be tough for Chelsea to pull off a deal, as Matuidi is contracted until 2018 at the current Ligue 1 leaders and he is very much in the club’s plans for the future.
Therefore, Chelsea are looking at an alternative, which accoring to The Daily Mail is Matuidi’s team-mate in Paris, Marco Verratti.
The 23-year-old Italian is one of numerous targets named by potential incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte, who also has Juventus’ Paul Pogba on his wishlist.
