Pep Guardiola signs three-year deal with Manchester City

Former-Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola will become the new Manchester City boss at the end of the campaign and has signed a three-year-contract with the Citizens, the club announced on its website.

The news came on the back of current City boss Manuel Pellegrini announcing during his pre-match press conference that he will leave the club at the end of the season. The news was not surprising, but the timing of the announcement maybe was.

Guardiola who is currently at German giants Bayern Munich, had previously been linked with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United, with the Catalan previously stating that he would like to manage in the Premier League in the past.

Manchester City have won the race for Guardiola, who is regarded as one of the finest managers of all-time. The Spaniard created an all-conquering Barcelona team that is seen by many as one of the best to ever grace a football field.

Bayern Munich confirmed earlier that Carlo Ancelotti will become their new coach at the end of the 2015-16 season after Guardiola decided not to renew his contract with the Bundesliga champions.

Manchester City are still in with a chance of winning four trophies this season and Pellegrini could end the season by winning the league and still leaving the club.
