Relegation-threatened Newcastle have added to their attacking options by signing Senegalese striker Seydou Doumbia on-loan for the rest of the season from Serie A club Roma, according to the BBC.
The 28-year-old made his name in European football at Russian giants CSKA Moscow, scoring a very creditable 66 goals in 108 league appearances for CSKA. Doumbia only moved to Italy in the winter transfer window in 2015, but failed to settle in the eternal city.
The Magpies are also interested in signing West Brom striker Saido Berahino, according to Sky Sports. The 22-year-old has also been linked with moves to Stoke and Tottenham on deadline day.
In fact, according to Sky, Newcastle had a bid of around £21million turned down for the striker on Sunday. Baggies boss Tony Pulis has spoken of his wish of wanting to keep the striker at the club and Sky are now claiming that the striker is not leaving the Midlands club in the January transfer window.
