Two Premier League playmakers sign new contracts

Despite interest from several clubs, Bojan Krkic and Dimitri Payet have signed a new contract with Stoke City and West Ham respectively.

Krkic signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract with the Potters, according to the BBC, despite the interest of the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal.

The Spaniard joined Stoke during the summer of 2014 from Barcelona for a £1.35 million transfer fee and has provided five goals and one assist in 19 Premier League appearances this season.

Last year, he scored four times in 16 league matches before being ruled out for the rest of the season due to a cruciate ligament rupture.

Krkic, speaking to the offical website of the club, said:

“I am very happy and motivated. Stoke City gave me the opportunity to play in the most competitive league in the world, the Premier League, and I have only words of gratitude for their trust and for the way they have treated me since the first day I arrived to England.”

Payet will stay with the Hammers until 2021, after signing a new five-year deal, according to Sky Sports.

The 28-year-old was only seven months into a five-year deal until 2020, but West Ham were desperate to ensure he will not be lured elsewhere, after joining them from Olympique de Marseille for £10.75 million in the summer.

The Frenchman was targeted by an unnamed Chinese club, which was willing to spend £38 million on the playmaker, who has provided six goals and four assists in his first season for the Hammers.
