Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has extensive knowledge of the Bundesliga, and he is once again planning to bring a Bundesliga star to Anfield.
The Reds have already confirmed the summer signing of Schalke defender Joel Matip and according to the latest reports their next target is Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka.
Klopp is said to be a big fan of the Swiss international since his days at Borussia Dortmund and has identified the 23-year old as a potential transfer target.
German publication Bild, via talkSPORT, claims that the Merseysiders are currently leading the race to sign Xhaka.
The likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are also reportedly interested in the player, who was once described as “young Schweinsteiger” by former Switzerland and Bayern Munich manager Ottmar Hitzfeld.
Xhaka is said to be valued at £30 million by his club, who are reluctant to part with him in the summer.
However, Xhaka has previously hinted at a move to England by claiming that it has been his childhood’s dream to play in the Premier League.
“Everybody has a childhood dream, and for me it is England,” the Switzerland international told Sport1.de.
