Poland international Piotr Zielinski has hinted that he could on his way to Anfield in the summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old is believed to be one of Jurgen Klopp’s primary summer transfer targets. According to various reports, the Reds expressed their interest in the player during the January transfer window and are expected to reignite their interest in the summer.
If the player’s recent comments are to be believed, then it seems like that the Merseysiders have already established initial contact with Zielinski’s parent club Udinese.
The Polish midfielder has spent the last two seasons on loan at Serie A club Empoli and has attracted the attention of major clubs with his performances.
In a recent interview with Polish outlet Futbolfejs, he hinted at a possible move to Liverpool: “Some people say these are just the rumours. I know a little bit more about it. But until now I just try to play as best as I can in Empoli to have a possible chance in June for such a big transfer move.
“I have spoken with Kuba [former Dortmund midfielder Jakub Blaszczykowski], who plays at Fiorentina now, about Klopp. He told me about his personality, how Klopp is with his players, gave me some tips, but nothing is known yet.
“I constantly have to play well in Empoli to get the interest from the bigger clubs.”
Zielinski is a dynamic box-to-box midfielder and is touted as a possible replacement for outbound Reds midfielder Joe Allen.
Serie A giants Juventus and Napoli are also said to be interested in the services of the 21-year-old. He has scored three goals and provided four assists in 28 league appearances this season, and is valued at about £11.5 million by Udinese.
