Manchester United are currently ranked just seventh in the Premier League. The Red Devils are struggling to reach Europe next season, as West Ham has jumpe over them and forced a return in their FA Cup quarter-final encounter.
Therefore, the Old Trafford club have been very active at the transfer market, as well as in their search of a new coach, with the likes of Jose Mourinho, Laurent Blanc, and Ryan Giggs being mentioned to succeed Louis van Gaal.
However, United also have to upgrade their squad. According to ESPN FC, United will make a £31 million bid for Edinson Cavani this summer in an attempt to beat Chelsea to the Uruguayan, even though the striker’s contract at PSG expires in 2017.
Meanwhile, United are the latest club to show an interest in Ousmane Dembele, sending scouts to watch the forward in action for Rennes against Lyon on Sunday night. Representatives of Arsenal, West Ham and Southampton were also present, according to The Daily Mail.
France Football revealed that Rennes have rejected a £27.1 million bid from Barcelona for Dembele. The 18-year-old is also wanted by Bayern Munich and Manchester City.
The Red Devils have been rumoured to pursue Zlatan Ibrahimovic, as the Swede’s contract at PSG expires after the current season. However, according to Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport and as reported by Goal.com, AC Milan will rival United as a possible destination for the 34-year-old, who recently won the Ligue 1 title after scoring four goals in a 9-0 at Troyes.
Last but not least, Juan Mata’s contract at Old Trafford has only two years left to run. But the Spaniard is hopeful of opening talks with United’s management over the summer regarding an extension with the Red Devils, according to The Daily Star.
