Former Tottenham manager left red-faced following his latest gaffe

Former Tottenham and QPR manager Harry Redknapp found himself in a tricky situation following his comments about Leicester City skipper Wes Morgan, who has been an integral part of Claudio Ranieri’s table-topping side this season.

The 32-year old has been ever-so-reliable in the Foxes’ defence as they continue their charge towards the league title. He also chipped in with a valuable goal in the 1-0 win over Southampton on Sunday.

His performances have been so impressive that it made Redknapp suggest that he should be called up for Roy Hodgson’s England squad for the European Championships.

If you are still wondering what was wrong with Redknapp’s comments, let us tell you that Morgan is a Jamaica international. He has made 23 international appearances after making his debut for the Caribbean nation in 2013. He was also a part of the Jamaican squad that reached the finals of the 2015 Gold Cup.

Now, that’s quite lax journalism on Redknapp’s part and we suggest that he should get himself acquainted with Google.

However, the Guardian have since then edited their online article.
