Spanish giants want Liverpool stars, Reds target two new players

There might finally be a way for Liverpool to recoup their huge investment in forward Christian Benteke. The Belgian international signed for the Reds in a £32.5 million deal from Aston Villa last summer, but he has failed to live up to the expectations at Anfield.

He is expected to leave the club in the summer and according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, via talkSPORT, Atletico Madrid are interested in signing him. The La Liga giants are ready to offer £37 million for the services of the 25-year-old.

Spanish outlet Sport claims that Barcelona are interested in Liverpool starlet Cameron Brannagan. According to the report, scouts of the Blaugrana have watched the 19-year old on multiple occasions this season. Brannagan, whose contract runs until 2018, has made six appearances for the Merseysiders this season.

Meanwhile, Italian source Tuttomercato has linked Liverpool with a move for Stuttgart left winger Filip Kostic. The Serbian international is valued at £16 million by his club and has also attracted interests from German clubs Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg, and Schalke. He has scored five goals and provided five assists in 27 appearances this season.

Football-Italia claims that Liverpool are planning to use Mario Balotelli in a swap deal to bring Fiorentina midfielder Josip Ilicic to Anfield. The 28-year old has scored 14 goals in 31 appearances this season. The report states that Balotelli’s £80,000-a-week wages could prove to be a stumbling block in the deal.
