Arsene Wenger has suggested fan unrest may have contributed to this season’s failed title challenge, according to Sky Sports.
The Frenchman said: “We lost the championship at home against lower teams, but we played sometimes at home in a very difficult climate. Away we are championship winners.”
Not surprisingly, Twitter exploded after Wenger’s statements…
I can take the stupid transfers and the dodgy tactics. Most coaches do that.
But Wenger is so often condescending to fans! It’s insulting.

12 years of coming 3rd & 4th in Premier League and Wenger has the audacity to blame Arsenal fans for his failure. Disgraceful. #WengerOUT

Wenger: “Away from home we are the title winners.” – That’s an absolutely scandalous thing to say. It’s not even true either. He’s lost it.

Wenger: “This team has character and attitude.” The emptiest of empty phrases at this point.

Is Wenger blaming Arsenal fans? “We lost the championship at home against lower teams but we played at home in a very difficult climate.”

Wenger pretty much no holds barred today in his press conference re: aims at former players, ‘groups with agendas/egos to manipulate fans’

Wenger was the Super Hero of @Arsenal, but now he’s a shame.

#Wenger talks about the Liverpool fans but they’ve got new ideas to look forward to and they battered Rodgers despite third place finish

@Merse10 … Getting off topic, but for Wenger to blame fans for annual failure is bizzare. He has to look at himself

Someone needs to tell Wenger it’s 2016 not 1996

Wenger: “We have gone through a difficult spell, but we have come back well in the last month and a half.”
What’s he smoking?

“We have to realise that, away from home, we are championship winners” this is so factually wrong, I’m actually concerned for Wenger.

Arsenal fans made excuses for Wenger for over a decade for Arsenal’s failures & now he’s blaming them for it 😂😂😂😂
— Dan Soff [JOKUZA] (@Swagadore) 29 april 2016
Did Wenger really call out the fans that stood by him through all those questionable decisions just because they finally want change?
Sad..
