According to Sky Sports, Jose Mourinho has agreed personal terms with Manchester United but the deal will not be completed until image-rights issues are resolved by lawyers representing both parties.
This week, the Red Devils sacked Louis Van Gaal after two seasons in charge of the Old Trafford club. Mourinho is set to succeed the Dutchman after months of speculation. Not surprisingly, United’s squad is primed for a big overhaul during the summer transfer window.
According to The Independent, Mourinho has identified Karim Benzema as a primary target, but he is aware that a deal for the Real Madrid striker will be a difficult one to complete.
Benzema has been on United’s wishlist for years, and the France international has been rumoured to be open for a transfer away from Real Madrid. The 28-year-old joined Los Blancos in 2009 for £26 million from Lyon and scored 28 goals in all compettions this season.
Meanwhile, according to French source Le 10 Sport (via Goal), Mourinho also wants to bring Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny and Leicester City’s N’Golo Kante to Old Trafford this summer.
Koscielny joined the Gunners in 2010 from Ligue 1 clubs Lorient and appeared in 44 games in all competitions. Kante played his first season in the Premier League for the Foxes and was one of the key players during their improbable title run.
However, Paris Saint-Germain are set to hold further talks with Leicester City for Kante after making an improved contract offer to the France international, according to Le Parisien (via Goal).
