Liverpool have agreed a £9 million deal with Udinese for Piotr Zielinski, according to The Daily Express.
The 21-year-old Poland international has impressed during a season on loan at Empoli and will reportedly be confirmed as a Reds player on Wednesday.
Zielinski has scored five goals in 35 Serie A appearances during his loan spell and the mifielder said last month that Liverpool had expressed an interest.
“There is a lot of truth in the Liverpool rumours,” Zielinski told Sportowe Fakty (via Eurosport) back in April. “Jurgen Klopp is interested in me, and we have talked a few times.”
Dawid Chylaszek, who represents Zielinski’s player agency BMG sports, told Reviersport on Monday that the player could be on the brink of agreeing a transfer.
Chylaszek, who also represents Dortmund’s Lukasz Piszczek and Liverpool academy player Kamil Grabara, said: “There’s a lot of interest in Piotr Zielinski. We are pretty far with one club already, and it could lead to a signature in the next couple of hours.”
Zielinski is under contract with Udinese until 2018 and has 13 caps for Poland, also being included in his country’s provisional squad for Euro 2016 in France this summer.
The Reds have already struck a deal to sign Schalke defender Joel Matip, who will join up with his new club when his current contract expires in June.
Serbian talent Marko Grujic will also link up with his new club this summer. The 19-year-old midfielder signed for the Merseyside club during the January transfer window, but remained on loan at Red Star Belgrade for the remainder of the season.
