Manchester United have sacked Louis Van Gaal and are primed to appoint Jose Mourinho is their new manager starting from next season.
The Red Devils won the FA Cup this season but finished just fifth in the Premier League, missing out on Champions League football. The club is in dire need of a change and looks ready for a huge summer transfer spree.
According to The Guardian, Mourinho has identified several star players United should target during the summer as part of an anticipated minimum £150 million spend.
The reports states that the Portuguese wants to lure in Valencia’s midfielder Andre Gomes, Sporting’s winger Joao Mario, Everton’s central defender John Stones, Juventus’/Real Madrid’s striker Alvaro Morata, Inter’s striker Mauro Icardi and Zenit’s central defender Ezequiel Garay.
However, United have also been dealt a massive blow as Gonzalo Higuain will not be making a Premier League switch in the summer, according to The Sun.
The Argentine, who scored a record 36 league goals for Serie A giants Napoli this season, has flown to France to open talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential summer transfer. Higuain has a £65.8 million release clause in his contract with Napoli and has also been heavily linked with Chelsea.
