Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been one of the biggest targets on the market after scoring 36 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions for Borussia Dortmund this season. Consequently, the Gabon striker has been linked with a £70 million move to the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The 26-year-old dropped a massive hint this weekend, when he notified Gabon manager Jorge Costa that he would not be joining up for a couple of friendly international encounters with Mauritania and Ivory Coast because he is set to finalise a transfer.
“Aubameyang has asked not to be selected [for the national team] because he is changing clubs,” Costa told RFI (via Goal) during an interview.
Real Madrid have seemed to be in pole position to lure in Aubameyang, but it was recently revealed by The Daily Mail that Los Blancos have held talks with representatives of Robert Lewandowski over a potential transfer, which would rule out a move for Aubameyang.
Therefore, especially Arsenal and United have been put on red alert by the 23-year-old’s manager’s revalation.
