Like Manchester United and Manchester City, Chelsea are primed for a big summer. The Blues have a new coach coming in, Antonio Conte, and want to take revenge for a very poor Premier League season.
With Conte’s excellent relationships in Italy, Chelsea have been linked with a number of Serie A stars and according to a report by The Sun, the Blues are ready to launch a massive bid for two Italian stars.
The report claims Chelsea are apparently willing to offer £32 million for Juventus’ centre-back Leonardo Bonucci and £25 million for Lazio’s offensive winger Antonio Candreva.
Conte turned Bonucci into one of the best defenders in the world while coaching the Old Lady to three straight Serie A titles between 2011 and 2014. Chelsea are in dire need of a new defensive leder, but it seems very unlikely Juventus will be persuaded to sell their best defender at the age 29.
Meanwhwile, the Blues’ offer for Candreva might finally convince Lazio president Claudio Lotito to sell the 29-year-old Italy international, who’s currently playing for his country at Euro 2016.
The Biancocelesti were looking to sell the player to Inter, but the Milanese club seemed unwilling to meet the £20 million price-tag. That particular detail wouldn’t be a problem for Roman Abramovich’s club.
