Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has started acting on his transfer plans at Old Trafford.
According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo (via Metro), the Portuguese has asked the club board to sign AS Roma playmaker Miralem Pjanic.
The 26-year-old midfielder is one of the best midfield talents in Serie A and has enjoyed yet another successful season with Roma. He scored provided ten goals and 12 assists in 33 league appearances for his club this season.
His performances for the Giallorossi have attracted attention from the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain. The Bosnia and Herzegovina international signed for Roma from Ligue 1 club Lyon in 2011 and has a £29.4 million release clause in his contract.
According to Portugal publication A Bola (via Tribal Football), Mourinho is also considering a bid for Sweden international Victor Lindelof.
The report claims that United will have to pay £22.8 million to trigger Lindelof’s release clause. The 21-year-old, who played a key role in Benfica’s title triumph this season, has been touted as one of the top targets for Mourinho in his rebuilding of United’s defence ahead of the next season.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils’ hopes of signing Sevilla midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak have been dealt a blow, with Barcelona reportedly also entering the race for the Poland international, according to Mundo Deportivo (via Football-Espana).
