Chelsea to target Liverpool flop forward and Juventus midfielder

Chelsea have identified Liverpool forward Christian Benteke as one of the possible summer targets.

The Times claims that the Blues aim to sign Everton forward Romelu Lukaku during the summer transfer window. However, if they fail to land their preferred target, they will turn their attention towards his Belgian compatriot.

Liverpool signed the forward for £32 million from Aston Villa last summer, but after having failed to impress manager Jurgen Klopp in his debut season at Anfield, he is touted to leave the club in the summer.

Benteke managed only 14 league starts for the Reds last season. Meanwhile, Lukaku enjoyed an impressive spell with the Toffees last season.

The 23-year-old is widely expected to leave his current club in the summer. He has openly expressed his desire to play for a Champions League club, and clubs like Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have been linked with a potential transfer for the Belgium international.

The Toffees are currently in search of a new manager, and any decision regarding Lukaku’s future will be taken only after the managerial appointment.

In other transfer news, Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah is also wanted by Chelsea. According to Tuttosport (via talkSPORT), Juventus are open to selling the Ghanian if a buyer comes in with an offer of around £16 million.

Antonio Conte worked with the 27-year-old during his time in Turin and still likes his versatility.
