Liverpool striker transfer is a no-go

Liverpool striker Christian Benteke is attracting a lot of interests in the summer transfer window. The Belgium international arrived at Anfield in a £32.5 million move from Aston Villa last summer.

However, he found it hard to adapt to Liverpool’s playing style and his first season with the Reds ended in a disappointment. It has been widely reported that Benteke doesn’t feature in Jurgen Klopp’s plans and will be allowed to leave the Merseysiders in the current transfer window.

Spanish publication Sport recently claimed that La Liga club Atletico Madrid have already started negotiations with Liverpool ahead of a £25m move for the striker, while Premier League clubs West Ham United and Crystal Palace have also been linked with the 25-year-old.

However, Benteke’s agent, Kismet Eris, has rubbished the reports linking his client with a move to Atletico. When asked about the reports linking Benteke to Atletico, Eris told SportWitness: “There is nothing at all with any team.”

He also said that he expects to see his client playing for the Reds next season. Benteke scored 10 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool last season.
