Three Premier League clubs on red alert as Bundesliga star refuses to sign extension

With Euro 2016 not to start untill next week, the summer transfer market is in full swing.

According to a report by German outlet Bild (via The Independent), Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has started a bidding war by refusing to sign a contract extension with the Bundesliga giants.

The Armenia international has been linked with a summer transfer all season long, as talks about an extension stalled and a bunch of big clubs are looking to swoop in for the 27-year-old.

“Why would we sign a contract renewal now?” Mkhitaryan’s agent Mino Raiola said. “Micki has a contract until June 2017 and we are looking at his options for the future.”

The player could leave Dortmund on a free transfer in 2017 if he doesn’t sign an extension, boosting the rumours that the Bundesliga club will try to sell him for a profit this summer. Mkhitaryan joined the club in 2013 for £20.6 million from Shakthar Donetsk.

Especially Arsenal have been heavily linked with the midfielder, who fits the Gunners’ playing style. However, Tottenham and Chelsea are also looking to make a move, while Serie A champions Juventus are hoping to seal a deal due to their solid relationship with Raiola, as Dortmund are expecting at least £24 million for Mkhitaryan.
