Chelsea eye two new defenders

Chelsea are actively searching for centre-backs in the transfer market. The Blues were interested in signing Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, but they have turned their attention elsewhere after their £42million bid was turned down by the Naples club.

According to the latest reports, the West London club are considering a bid for Lazio defender Stefan De Vrij.

The 24-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at his current club following his knee operation last year, and it is believed that Lazio are keen on selling him.

The Holland international is expected to be available at the knockdown price of £15 million. De Vrij arrived at Lazio in a £6 million. deal from Feyenoord in 2014 and is under contract with the club until 2018.

Daily Express has claimed that Chelsea are also keeping tabs on Benfica centre-back Victor Lindelof.

The Sweden international, who can also play as a right-back and a holding midfielder, has a reported release clause of £25million. According to the report, the Blues are considering meeting the release clause of the 25-year-old.
