Manchester City have been in the hunt for Brazilian starlet Gabriel Jesus, who’s been dubbed the new Neymar, and is considered one of the two biggest Selecao talents along with Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa, who’s been heavily linked with a transfer to Juventus.
Guardiola and City are ready to pay £26.7 million for Jesus, said Brazilan newspaper UOL (via freelance journalist Zizouology) recently, with authorized agent Giovanni Branchini handling the negotiations with Palmeiras.
The Premier League giants’ bid is less than the 19-year-old forward’s £33.4 million release clause, but higher than the £20 million clause stipulated for five European clubs in his contract. City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain even told a supporter that Gabriel Jesus is set to sign for the club, according to MEN.
However, reports have surfaced that Manchester United will make a £29 million bid for the Palmeiras striker before the end of the summer transfer window.
According to Estadao (via Goal), the Red Devils are planning to outbid their city rivals and the likes of Inter, Real Madrid, and Barcelona for Jesus.
