Liverpool fans can’t believe the latest transfer rumour

According to the latest reports, like this one from Sky Sports, veteran goalkeeper Alex Manninger is training with Liverpool with a view to earning a contract with the club.

Most Premier League fans would remember the Austrian for his time with Arsenal at the turn of the century. He acted as a backup goalkeeper to Gunners legend David Seaman during his five years with the club. He made an important contribution to the Gunners 1998 title, keeping six clean sheets in a row and special dispensation was granted so he could be awarded a Premier League winners’ medal.

After leaving the North London club in 2002, he went on to represent clubs like Juventus and Udinese. At the moment, he is a free agent after his contract with Bundesliga side Augsburg expired in the summer.

The reports have suggested that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has invited him to train with the Reds and could make his club’s third choice keeper behind Simon Mignolet and new signing Loris Karius.

The latest transfer development from the Merseyside club has left many Arsenal and Liverpool fans perplexed on Twitter.
