Liverpool turn down huge offer for striker, Brazil star dismisses move to Anfield

Liverpool have turned down a £25 million bid from Crystal Palace for their striker Christian Benteke, according to latest reports.

Liverpool Echo claims that the Eagles’ bid was instantly rejected by the Reds as they value their player at a minimum of £30 million, despite the Daily Mail claiming the club Crystal Palace has a personal agreement with the player’s representatives after a positive meeting this week.

The Belgium international moved to Anfield in a £32.5 million move from Aston Villa last summer but failed to live up to the expectations in his debut season with the Reds. He scored 10 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool last season.

The Merseysiders are willing to let the 25-year-old leave this summer, but they want to recoup the money they invested in him last year.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain winger Lucas Moura has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool recently. However, the Brazil international, in a recent interview, has unequivocally dismissed the suggestions that he has been approached by the Reds.

“I’m not aware of anything, I just know what’s coming out on the internet is from the press,” he told Globo Esporte. “I want to do a good pre-season and wait for Tite’s next Brazil squad, I’m sure he’ll be watching us all playing in Europe next season.”

“Of course, I am hoping to return to the national team and establish myself there, but my first focus is to establish PSG as a starter and then I’m sure the opportunity will appear.”

The 23-year-old joined the Ligue 1 champions in a £35.5 million deal from Sao Paulo in 2013 and has won three consecutive league titles with them, providing nine goals and four assists in 36 appearances last season.
