Tottenham will make a second, improved bid of £17 million for AZ striker Vincent Janssen in a bid to tie up the Netherlands star’s signature, according to Dutch source Algemeen Dagblad.
Other Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf (via Tribal Football) had claimed that West Ham want to win the race for the in-demand striker with a similar bid but the 22-year-old Netherlands international is only interested in joining the Spurs after already rejecting a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Janssen attracted the interests of a bunch of European clubs after scoring 27 goals for AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch Eredivisie last season, while also hitting his first goal for the national team.
Meanwhile, according to a report by the Daily Telegraph, Tottenham have turned their attentions to signing Newcastle midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum after wrapping up a deal for Janssen.
The 25-year-old only signed at St James’ Park from PSV Eindhoven last summer in a deal worth £14.5 million. He hit the ground running with eleven Premier League goals and five assists, but was unable to help the Magpies avoid relegation to the Championship.
