Chelsea and Arsenal are both interested in Valencia centre-back Shkodran Mustafi. Reliable BBC football journalist David Ornstein has reportedly claimed that both London clubs are keeping tabs on the German international.

The Gunners are in the market for a centre-back following a long-term injury to Per Mertesacker. Meanwhile, the Blues have shifted attention to Mustafi after failing to sign Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli and Kostas Manolas from AS Roma.
Ornstein has also suggested that Arsenal are yet to place a formal bid for the defender. The La Liga side confirmed this week that they have not received any offer from the North London club for their player.

The latest claim from Ornstein is at odds with the various reports that had claimed that the Gunners had seen the first bid of £15.2 million rejected by Valencia.
Ornstein has also dismissed the reports which had claimed the Gunners are interested in Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez and Wolfsburg winger Julian Draxler.
Mustafi reportedly has a £42.1 million release clause in his contract, but he might be available for a transfer fee in the region of £25 million to £30 million.
