Gareth Southgate is the new messiah for England fans

England interim manager Gareth Southgate has done what his predecessors Roy Hodgson and Sam Allardyce failed to do.

Southgate has dropped his skipper Wayne Rooney from his starting eleven for the World Cup qualifier against Slovenia.

In a press conference before the game, Southgate confirmed: “It’s very straight forward. We’ve looked at the way Slovenia play, which we did midway last week. And we profiled the kind of midfield we wanted to play.

“It is in no reflection to Rooney’s performance at the weekend, in fact we were happy with the way he played. It was not an easy decision to make but we felt it was the right one.”

Rooney has been struggling for form at both club and national level for quite some time now. Most of the England fans believe that the Three Lions could do better without Rooney in the mix. However, both Hodgson and Allardyce could never muster the courage to drop the team captain from their starting eleven.

That’s the reason why Southgate is getting all the plaudits from the fans on Twitter.
