Chelsea set to complete at least two signings before transfer deadline

After facing setbacks in the recent days of the transfer window, Chelsea are set to complete a couple of signings on the deadline day.

The latest reports claim that the Blues agreed on a deal to sign Torino right-back Davide Zappacosta. Sky Sports claims that the Blues will pay £23m, plus add-ons, for the 25-year-old. The right-back has reportedly landed in London on Thursday evening to complete his medical ahead of finalising his move.

Blues manager Antonio Conte is familiar with the Italian defender, as he selected him for the Italy national team in 2016. Conte had been looking to sign a right-sided player to compete with Victor Moses, and it appears that his search has ended with Zappacosta.

The Italian manager has already failed with moves for Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Bayern Munich’s Rafinha this summer. Zappacosta had joined Torino from Atalanta in the summer of 2015, and last season, he made 26 Serie A appearances for the Turin side.

Meanwhile, Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater is set to undergo a medical ahead of sealing his last-hour move to Chelsea.

According to the latest reports, the England international has arrived at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground ahead of his medical as both clubs continue to negotiate over his price. The Blues have made an initial offer of £25m, but the Foxes value their player at £35m.

The Foxes are set to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Adrien Silva if Drinkwater completes his move to the Blues. The Portugal international has reportedly left the national camp to undergo a medical with the 2015-16 champions. The 28-year-old is expected to cost £22m to the Foxes.

In a stunning revelation, BBC journalist David Ornstein has claimed that Everton midfielder Ross Barkley turned down a move to Chelsea on the deadline day. Sky Sports further adds that Barkley was set to join the Blues in a £30m deal, but made a spectacular U-turn in the middle of his medical.

Tottenham have also been linked with interest in the 23-year-old, who has only one year left on his deal with the Toffee
