The former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o has joined Qatari side Qatar Sports Club on a free transfer.
The 37-year-old was on the hunt for a new club after being released by Turkish Super Lig side Konyaspor at the end of last season, and was said to be in talks with a number of French clubs with the possibility of a move to Ligue 1 on the table.
But the Qatari side have stolen a march on potential suitors and have announced the signing on their official Twitter page, saying they will hold a “press conference to present the international star Samuel Eto’o” on Tuesday.

This will be the 13th club of Eto’o’s career after successful stints particularly at Barcelona and Inter Milan where he won the Champions League a total of three times.
Eto’o joins Xavi and Wesley Sneijder, both former teammates at club level, in the Qatar Stars League.
