Tottenham signed Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle United for £30m in one of the biggest transfers on the deadline day.
The France international’s move to White Hart Lane raised a lot of eyebrows as he has a reputation for being highly inconsistent and the amount Spurs paid for him seemed a bit too much even in the current transfer market.
The 27-year-old was handed his debut start by manager Mauricio Pochettino against Sunderland today.
Even though Spurs managed a 1-0 win against the Black Cats, Sissoko cut out a disappointing figure for much of the
game.
Spurs and Newcatsle fans on Twitter were not too impressed either with his performance.
Great to see that Sissoko is as useless for Tottenham as he was for Newcastle lol

Looks like spurs have signed the Sissoko that played for Newcastle not the one that played for France! #TOTSUN

Definitely surprised with Sissoko thus far, not as poor as I expected. Still not an impressive performance by any means but surprising.

This Sissoko is proof of how easy it us to become a PL footballer these days. What a lump. All brute force and no finesse.

Wow Sissoko is actually soooo bad it's laughable
— Borran (@BorisLL99) September 18, 2016
Sissoko is basically Paulinho if he was a winger

Poch is going to be digging through his pockets for Sissoko's receipt. Shown how horrendous he is on the ball! #NUFC
