With the news breaking that Liverpool are set to meet Aston Villa’s valuation to sign Christian Benteke for £32.5m, it’s been great fun watching everybody meltdown over the impending deal.
Liverpool fans don’t seem to want him, but the most surprising aspect of the story is that Villa fans, who have seemingly accepted his departure, would rather he go to Manchester United instead!
Over the past three seasons, Benteke has fired Villa to safety by chalking up 42 goals in 88 Premier League appearances (49 in 100 in total), and likely would have moved last summer had he not have been out injured.
And instead of being upset at losing such a potent goalscorer, Villans are more annoyed that he’s going to Liverpool, as they hold him in such high regard that they feel he deserves to be at a bigger club!
See the reactions of both sets of fans below…

Benteke signing ruined my day. Overpriced, will go the same way as Carroll, Lambert and Balotelli. Chance to buy clever with Sterling money

@AyreWill are you able to read? Lacazette is far better than Benteke but he wants CL football…

As I've said many times before, Benteke is a great player but he's the type who would struggle at Liverpool. Time will tell.

You don't fucking deserve him. Just fuck off.

Has any club ever consistently wasted as much money as us? Benteke will be a fucking huge flop. Carroll, Balotelli and now this dick head.

Liverpool will absolutely refuse to play to Benteke's strengths and he'll flop horribly. It's the Anfield way.

Too sad and hungover to deal with all this Benteke bollocks

Sadly I think the Benteke to MUFC story is just something to smoke out the scousers. Shame as I'd much rather see him in a United shirt.

Would be sad to see Benteke leave but can't help but feel he would really flourish at Utd.. And what Villa fan would begrudge him that #AVFC

Benteke wants CL football above anything else. Man Utd will give him that. Best deal for everyone really.
