O’Hara targets Wolves move

Having overseen a dramatic late escape from relegation, Mick McCarthy looks set to sign loan star Jamie O’Hara in a £5 million deal from Tottenham. O’Hara, who scored his third goal of the season in Wolves’ defeat against Blackburn yesterday, has repeatedly expressed his desire to join the Midlanders. “There’s a deal on the table and Wolves need to say they want me,” said the 24 year-old midfielder. “A fee has been agreed with Tottenham, but the deal has got to be done within a week. I want to stay. Hopefully the gaffer will want me to stay. Hopefully I’ll be speaking to him over the next week or so and get something sorted.”

Should O’Hara sign for Wolves, he may soon be joined by Birmingham centre-back Roger Johnson. Stephen Hunt’s 87th minute goal effectively condemned Birmingham to relegation, a blow which McCarthy may well compound by signing one of their top players.
