After wins for Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool, two of the other big giants, in the Premier League pit their wits against each other at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea battled to a hard-fought win against Blackburn last time out and were victorious due to a Frank Lampard goal. The Blues midfielder is top scorer at Stamford Bridge and should start against the Reds. Liverpool old-boys Raul Meireles and Fernando Torres are also set to feature for Chelsea. Andre Villas-Boas’ side have started the season well and can leapfrog Newcastle United into third position if they get all three points.
The Reds have faced a difficult week with Luis Suarez facing a charge of racism against Manchester United defender Patrice Evra, but will be looking to put things right against Chelsea. Liverpool’s fans will be hopeful they can get three points after a disappointing result against Swansea before the international break. That 0-0 draw prompted defender Daniel Agger to call his side ‘headless chickens’ and Liverpool will be looking to match or better their 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge last season.
With the two sides being so evenly matched, a result is extremely difficult to predict. Liverpool’s players will be riled up for the occasion playing against their former striker Torres, but the Blues have shown enough class so far this season to pick up a strong result against Kenny Dalglish’s men.
