McCarthy reveals the vital importance of team spirit and togetherness in his side

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy believes that it is vital for his side to maintain the team spirit they have, if they want to stay in the Premier League.

McCarthy’s side sit one point above the relegation zone and face a tough festive period with trips to Arsenal and Bolton followed by a home tie with Chelsea. Wolves have found themselves scrapping for relegation once again this season and they survived on the final day last season by goal difference, despite a 3-2 loss at home to Blackburn. Wolves need points and McCarthy is hopeful that the team spirit they hold will help them survive.

The 52 year old’s side are in their third successive season in the Premier League and believes his club are hardworking and friendly with each other.

McCarthy said: ‘Sometimes people will have really good players, but no team spirit and teams win games. You have to create that atmosphere and I personally think it helps me being consistent, win, lose or draw.I don’t think there is humility about us, there is a hard work about us, a friendship about us where we do things together and we win as a team and lose as a team’.
