Bassong can be top player at Wolves says Dowie

Football pundit Iain Dowie has backed new Wolves loan signing Sebastien Bassong to be a success at the club.

Bassong has been out of favour at Tottenham in recent seasons, and left the club after Spurs agreed a deal with Blackburn defender Ryan Nelsen. Wolves boss Mick McCarthy will look to Bassong to shore up a defence that has conceded the 4th most of any in the Premier League this season.

Dowie feels the move is the right one for the Cameroon international, and backs him to establish himself at Molineux:

“I worked with Sebastien at Newcastle when I was there with Alan Shearer and I thought he was an outstanding talent. He had lovely feet, good pace, and just needed to work on his defensive intensity a little bit. He will bring what Wolves maybe don’t have at the back, and that’s out-and-out pace. He’s got everything to be a top player.”
