Tottenham midfielder Gareth Bale has warned North London rivals Arsenal that Spurs have turned the corner and are gunning for third place, The
Spurs held a 12 point lead over Arsenal in February, but five games without a victory have allowed the Gunners to surge into third place and hold a three point lead over their rivals. There are eight matches remaining and Spurs manager Harry Redknapp fired a warning to the Gunners that Tottenham are not finished. Spurs were the better team in this weekend’s 0-0 draw with Chelsea and a win over Bolton tonight in the FA Cup will give them more confidence as they chase down third place.
Bale has been a leading light for the North London side this season and has attracted interest from Barcelona, who have watched the Welshman seven times this season. Bale’s future is unclear, but he is preparing himself for a great run-in and kicking on to get third.
“Hopefully, we can get back to winning in the next game and then kick on and get that third spot. We need Arsenal to lose now, so we can get back on level terms. The lads all know we have stopped the rot now. I think we have had our blip now and we can look forward to some positive results and get back where we belong”, Bale said.
