Suarez has recently spoken of his discontent with life in English football and a move to La Liga has been mooted, with the Mail claiming both Madrid clubs are interested in the Uruguayan.
Liverpool have insisted they will not sell Suarez but are said to have drawn up contingency plans that would see a move for Benteke, who impressed with Villa in his debut campaign in England. However, the Reds would face intense competition for the Belgium international, with Atletico Madrid, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund all thought to be keen.
Nevertheless, Villa hope to sign Benteke to a new contract this summer, with talks due once the 22-year-old returns to the Midlands from international duty. The former Genk player scored 23 goals in 39 games under Paul Lambert last season, including a brace in Villa’s 3-1 win at Anfield.
