Everton defender Sylvain Distin has praised the transfers completed by new manager Roberto Martinez, Sky
Distin added that such is the quality of the players brought in by Martinez, Everton do not need any more new faces before the start of the season. “The competition is there because it is a much bigger squad now and we do not need any more players,” the centre-back said.
Robles, Alcaraz and Kone have all joined on permanent deals, each having worked under Martinez at Wigan last season. Robles, a goalkeeper, was on loan at the DW Stadium from Atletico Madrid but made a permanent move to Goodison Park, while Alcaraz’s contract had expired and he was able to move to Merseyside on a free transfer. Kone, meanwhile, was signed by Martinez last summer before his switch to Everton, while Deulofeu has joined on loan from Barcelona.
Distin continued: “The new guys have felt at home from the very first day. It is really easy to settle down in a team like Everton because we’re a good group of guys who welcome anyone without a problem.”
