Real Betis are waiting to find out if Arsenal striker Joel Campbell can return to the club on loan next season, according to Sky
The 21-year-old helped the Andalusian outfit to a seventh placed finish in La Liga last season, and his agent, Joaquim Batica, has confirmed that the club are keen to extend the player’s loan for another season.
Real Betis sporting director Vlada Stosic admits, however, that they are unsure whether the player will be given the green light to return.
Speaking to Radio Sevilla, Stosic said: “We want the player to continue for one more season with us, but we have heard no news from the Gunners.”
Campbell joined the Gunners in 2011 from Deportivo Saprissa, rejecting moves to Sevilla and Fiorentina in the process. He moved to Lorient on a loan basis with Arsenal team-mate Gilles Sunu, who made the same move on a permanent basis.
He made the loan move as he was unable to obtain a work permit to play in England. He scored three goals in 25 games in France before transferring to Betis.
