With the Luis Suarez drama still hanging over Anfield, Brendan Rodgers will be desperate to kick off the season with a win against a Stoke side currently in transition following the departure of the long serving Tony Pulis.
Troubled Uruguayan aside Liverpool have been busy in the transfer market. Following the retirement of veteran Jamie Carragher experienced Kolo Toure has been brought in, alongside Simon Mignolet, Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto. With fit again Steven Gerrard set to line up alongside the impressive Phillippe Coutinho reds fans are looking forward to an interesting campaign.
