Fulham have completed the transfer deadline day signing of Tottenham midfielder Lewis Holtby on loan, reports The
Holtby arrived at White Hart Lane in January 2013, but has struggled to establish himself in Spurs’ first team since then. He had been widely reported to be looking to leave on a temporary basis this month, and London neighbours Fulham moved quickly enough to secure the 23-year-old’s services until the end of the season.
Holtby is the third new face at Craven Cottage during the current transfer window, following Clint Dempsey and William Kvist to the club.
All three deals are on a loan basis, as Rene Meulensteen seeks to strengthen his squad as the Cottagers prepare for what looks to be a bitter battle for Premier League survival.
The club find themselves second bottom in the league table, two points behind Sunderland, who occupy the lowest “safe” place. They are tied on points with 18th-placed West Ham, but sit 19th owing to the Hammers’ better goal difference.
Holtby made 23 appearances for Spurs, scoring once before completing his temporary move to Fulham, and made his international debut for Germany in 2010.
