FA Cup holders Wigan Athletic will be hoping to continue their defence of the famous trophy by defeating Premier League strugglers Cardiff City.
The hosts have only won three times since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge at the beginning of the year, but two of those have been in the FA Cup as the Bluebirds have accounted for Newcastle United and Bolton Wanderers. They are faltering in the league and struggling to score goals, however, and their failure to win at home to Aston Villa on Tuesday has left them 19th, two points from safety.
Wigan got their Championship play-off push back on track with an impressive 3-0 win at in-form Sheffield Wednesday during the week, and their away record so far under Uwe Rosler suggests that they will have a reasonable chance of pulling off an upset at the Cardiff City Stadium. Their squad also boasts many players with Premier League experience, so the home defence could be in for a busy afternoon.
Craig Bellamy is still suspended for Cardiff, who have doubts over the fitness of defensive pair Mark Hudson and Andrew Taylor, as well as midfielder Jordon Mutch.
Nicky Maynard, who scored a brace for Wigan at Hillsborough, is unable to face his parent club. Elsewhere, Rosler could hand recalls to Callum McManaman and Marc-Antoine Fortune.
