Fulham centre-back Dan Burn has likened Manchester United to a Conference side after the club’s 2-2 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday, ESPN
United made a record 81 crosses against their opponents, with 6ft 6 defender Burn dealing with many of them, making 22 clearances for his side.
And Burn, 21, who spent a period playing in the Conference for Darlington, was reminded of his non-league days after facing United’s aerial attack.
He said: “I’ve never headed that many balls since the Conference. At the end of the day I’m happy for them to play like that. We knew that we were going to defend our box well.
“We were going to keep our back four quite narrow so that we were between the goal and the wingers were going to look after the wide men”
Burn has featured in defence in Fulham’s last three games after spending the first half of the season on loan at Championship side Birmingham City. He made 24 appearances for Lee Clark’s side, scoring once.
He spent last season on loan at Yeovil Town, making 37 appearances and helping them achieve promotion from League One by scoring in the play-off final against Brentford.
Despite a point against United, Fulham remain at the bottom of the Premier League, and face Liverpool at Craven Cottage on Wednesday evening.
