Sergio Aguero has been passed fit to play for Manchester City against Liverpool in their top of the Premier League table meeting this weekend, Sky
Aguero has missed City’s last five games with a hamstring injury and hasn’t scored for City since mid-January, but remains the club’s leading scorer with 26 goals this season. Manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed at a pre-match Press conference that the former Atletico Madrid striker was available for the game at Anfield.
“Sergio is okay. He has worked the whole week with the squad as normal. He doesn’t have any problems,” Pellegrini said. “It’s very important – he’s a top player, it’s very difficult for defences to stop him. It’s very important for us.
“You always miss important players like Sergio – we also had a lot of other players injured during the year. But we have a squad prepared. You do not just depend on one player.”
Yaya Toure had also been considered a fitness doubt for the fixture but Pellegrini confirmed that the former Barcelona midfielder was also available.
Liverpool are currently two points clear at the top of the table with Chelsea in second. City are four points adrift of the Reds but have two games in hand. Chelsea also have to play at Anfield later in April.
