Swansea manager Garry Monk has played down exit talk for midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, insisting his recent criticism was not a precursor for a January move, reports BBC
Monk was critical of the ex-Liverpool midfielder, calling him “lazy” ahead of City’s 4-1 defeat against his former club, and Shelvey has recently picked up a four-match ban for violent conduct on Liverpool’s Emre Can. But the City boss has no intention to sell him.
“It was not my intention to give the impression I do not want Jonjo here. That is absolutely not the case. When I talked about him I was talking about the specific instances where he can do better, in relation to the yellow cards he has picked up,” said Monk.
