Goals from Andy Carroll, Morgan Amalfitano and Stewart Downing saw West Ham see past relegation-threatened Hull City at the Boleyn Ground, reports BBC
Hull City had the better of the chances in the first-half against their London opponents, but didn’t make their dominance count. They were made to rue going into the break goalless as their defence was depleted through injuries to Alex Bruce and James Chester, which probed costly.
West Ham took advantage after the break, firstly through Andy Carroll, who scored a rebounded effort from close range. Amalfitano doubled United’s lead with a chipped effort over Hull shot-stopper Allan McGregor, before Stewart Downing wrapped up the points with a composed close range effort minutes later.
The result left Hull in the relegation zone, while cutting West Ham’s deficit to the top-four to just four points.
