Liverpool plotting big money swoop on Serie A

Having spent close to £120m last summer Liverpool are reportedly ready to spend big again in the summer with Italy’s Serie A their main target, according to the Daily Star.

Nine new players joined the club back in 2014’s summer transfer window as they looked to offset the departure of star striker Luis Suarez.

And this summer could well see more money spent by the Reds as they chase another successful season to live up to the expectations of finishing runners up last term.

Miralem Pjanic of Roma is said to be one of the top targets of Kop boss Brendan Rodgers – who could help the club keep its creative drive with Steven Gerrard leaving at the end of the current season.

Fellow Roma team mate Radja Nianggolan, who is regarded as one of the best central midfielders to emerge in Europe in recent seasons, has also been brought to the attention of Anfield Chiefs and would certainly ease the impact of Gerrard’s departure.

Pjanic is valued at £25m while Nianggolan has a buy-out clause rumoured to be £25.9m

And despite bringing in Rickie Lambert, Mario Balotelli and Divock Origi to aid Daniel Sturridge, Rodgers is eyeing a move for Lazio starlet Kieta Balde Diao – once of Barcelona.

The 19-year-old striker is enjoying a growing reputation but like the other rumoured targets would cost Liverpool big money to lure to England, with Lazio thought to be demanding £25m for his services also.
