Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has issued a warning to Liverpool ahead of the FA Cup semi-final clash against the Merseyside outfit this weekend by revealing he’s now fully fit and in scoring form, reports Sky
The Belgian international, 24, has been in fine scoring form of late under manager Tim Sherwood, and is targeting the FA Cup clash to continue his run in front of goal. Injury problems have seen his form suffer in the last year, but he appears to have found his feet against for Aston Villa at a perfect time in the season.
The Midlands club face Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final, and stand a chance of winning if they can get Benteke and co firing, with the talented striker having scored many times past the Reds in the past too. Ahead of this weekend’s clash at Wembley, Benteke revealed he’s now finally fully fit and in fantastic form at a time that could see Villa give Liverpool a challenge.
He’s not resting on his laurels, however, and wants to hit new heights under manager Tim Sherwood. The 24-year-old said: “I still think I can do more, in everything. I can’t say I’m happy to be there now, I want to do more and more and more. Now I have more chances and I’m fully fit, that’s why I’m happy.”
“I think I was a little bit tired in my body but now I am feeling very good. So that’s why I am performing now. Before I didn’t get enough service and I wasn’t fit enough. I knew I would need time to be fit again. The confidence of the team was a little low so it was hard for everyone, so I can understand.”
