According to the Daily Mail, Radamel Falcao – who endured a difficult loan spell at Manchester United last season – is their prime target. The Blues are in talks with his parent club Monaco, and will have to beat off competition from Valencia and Juventus should they wish to bag his signature, the Mail report.

Despite his tough year at Old Trafford – where he scored just four goals in the league – the Mail report that the Ligue 1 side want £25m. It appears that in their mind at least, he is still the striker that with Porto and Atletico Madrid garnered a reputation as one of the world’s most ruthless marksman.

With Didier Drogba leaving the club this summer (via the Daily Mail), Mourinho is keen to add at least two new forwards to his arsenal. Although, that stance may be altered if reports in The Sun that suggest that Diego Costa wants to leave are true.

If the Spanish international is truly keen to head back to La Liga, then bringing in his next target Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke (via the Daily Mail), may become a priority rather than a luxury.

The Belgian has been in great form for the Villains in recent months, and has been extensively linked with a move to Liverpool (via Liverpool Echo). The Echo suggest however, that any club hoping to sign him will have to reach his release clause figure of £32.5m.

With the riches that come from featuring in the Champions League, it is likely that it would be much easier for the Stamford Bridge side to stump up the money than it would be for the Reds.

Should they fail however, the Mail also suggest that Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain – who Mourinho worked with at Real Madrid – is also on his radar. The 27-year-old has certainly been the most prolific of the three options, having scored 18 goals in Serie A.
