Benteke’s future in the West Midlands is looking increasingly uncertain, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool all said to be keeping an eye on his situation after he admitted that he wanted to play European football next season.
However, any interested party will likely have to cough up the £32.5m release clause he is said to have installed in his contract.
With veteran striker Didier Drogba likely to move on in the coming weeks, the Blues are on the hunt for a new striker to help ease the burden from Diego Costa’s shoulders, and Hazard has admitted he would be delighted to see his international teammate line up alongside him at club level.
“If Christian signs with us, I would be the happiest man in the world,” the PFA Player of the Year told reporters in Belgium,” he said.
“I have a great relationship with him and would like nothing better than to play with him. Christian is 25. He is at an age where he has to make a good career choice.
“Not that Aston Villa is a small club but he has already played many great games and can now play in the Champions League.”
Hazard and Benteke are currently both away with the Belgium national team, where they are warming up for next week’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Wales in Cardiff.
