The song – commonly sung at the Emirates – starts with the question: “What do we think of Tottenham?” To which the fans responded: “S**t.”

A brief statement on the FA’s official website confirmed that the England international has been charged with misconduct, and bringing the game into disrepute relating to the events last month, and has a week to respond to the charges.

Gunners fans will be hoping that should he be found guilty, there is no ban that is carried forward to next season, especially given the amount of football he has missed this term.

The 23-year-old only returned to the side after over five months on the sidelines in May, and came on as a substitute during the Wembley win over Aston Villa. His performances since he returned to Arsene Wenger’s side earned him a call-up to Roy Hodgson’s squad for the upcoming internationals with the Republic of Ireland and Slovenia.
